USE OF FORUM AND RULES


Starting in the summer term 2013, the English Language Programme will (re)activate the forum for announcements and active discussion again. Starting from now, you will be able to find up-to-date information here:

  • Newsletters with current events and issues
  • Programme information sent out by the ELP office
  • Discussions to specific classes
  • Announcement of conferences and excursions
  • Announcement of research possibilities
  • Cancelled events/classes

The topics will have a pre-fix in the topic title, so you can see quickly whom the topic concerns:

(M1) - means it's for M1 students
(B5) - meants it's for B5 students , etc.
(All) - These topics are for all students
(Extra) - This shows an event or extra-curricular offer you might participate in
** - This is the prefix for a cancelled class or event

The forum is intended to be an informing platform from the office to you. You might reply to the postings (if you create your own account here), but we might not check your replies every day here.If you have urgent requests please do not hesistate to get in touch with us in person in the office, or via email. Because this is a public forum (not only to SFU but www) be sensible with disclosing personal information. If you have an urgent matter or want to discuss something about your student status, examination status, grading etc., you might not want to ask in here, but contact us directly. In cases where issues were addressed in an inappropriate manner, we might temporarily delete postings (and get in touch with you to discuss the reasons for temp. deleting your post).
guests to the forum can read all postings in the ELP forums, but if you want to reply to a posting, you need to login (and hence, you need to register a new user)

The subforum "STUDENT DISCUSSION" is being moderated by your official SFU student representative (as of right now: Alla Kirsha). Topics in there will not be reviewed by us, but by your student rep. There you will receive info especially about student issues and you can share feedback, chitchat or other information (again, be aware this is a public forum!)


HOW TO REGISTER


To register, click the 'Registrieren' button located on the top right corner of the forum. The first page will be the user license agreement in German - just click "Ich bin mit diesen Bedingungen einverstanden" to get to the next page (don't worry you will be able to check the license agreement in English again). At the next page, start with choosing "British English" from the language dropdown box labeled "Sprache" - now the registration process as well as the forum langauage are switched to English!


USERNAME


Please choose a user name that represents your name - although we are ok with anonymous/nickname posting, you might be deleted by our administrators if you choose a 'spam-like' nickname like "kazuka" or "xman24".
(The reason for this is, that the downside of the all-open-forum [where anybody on the internet can access the pages] is that spam-bots will regulalry create accounts and post advertisement that we delete on a daily basis)
